How To Master Metabolism And Lose Weight – FAST!

August 23, 2009 by Dan Beckwith

If you want to master metabolism, here are a couple of successful steps towards a healthier, fitter, more appealing you!

Sleep well, live well. Based on new studies, those that usually get around 4 hours of rest at night have more sluggish metabolisms than folks who average 8-9 hours of slumber. Plus, it’s been demonstrated that the former are much more prone to resort to eating too much. You have got to have an adequate amount of sleep for you to feel rejuvenated in the morning. Get 7-9 hours of rest at night and you allow your body enough time to release the hormones vital to rev metabolism.

Do a vigorous workout and sweat a bit in the evenings. There’s contemporary medical research that says that our metabolism in inclined to become sluggish later in the afternoon or at the conclusion of the day. So, in order for you to use additional calories, it’s smart to do some P.M. Walks and other exercises that will allow you to work up a sweat and use up some calories.

Stop being a television zombie, move around. As you get going, you use more energy. Rather than taking a drive to a nearby place, hoofing it is a healthier option. Avail yourself of the stairs Rather than using the elevator, do some gardening as a replacement for watching television. You have got to slowly but surely incorporate small lifestyle changes. Small alterations are not difficult, but will build up and make a vast difference in your struggle to master metabolism.

Consume extra proteins. Dieting studies illustrate that protein intake evens out the quantity of insulin in the bloodstream. It is very-beneficial for your health.

Bypassing meals is not a satisfactory weight loss tactic. Don’t even consider that missing meals will decrease your excess fat. It clearly won’t work that way. When you do without a meal, your body reacts to it such that it slows down your metabolic speed. Mastering metabolism means eating MORE not(of the right foods) not less!

Working out will help in growing toned muscles. Muscle uses more energy than blubber and will rev metabolism to continue using calories even while you are sleeping! A a small amount of push-ups and squats on a daily basis are a great help. Do not forget that working out is not simply about muscle growth, but about mastering metabolism.

Never give up on the goal that you will get a healthier, more appealing and robust life! You CAN master metabolism and arrive at your perfect weight!

Metabolism Foods – What’s with Low-Carb Diets?

July 13, 2009 by Dan Beckwith

For the last several years, the biggest diet buzzwords have all been, low-carb dieting. While it’s true that many of the high carbohydrate foods that we eat are not good high metabolism foods, our body does need carbohydrates for energy. It is not a good idea to totally eliminate carbohydrates from your diet. Here’s why:

If you follow a low-carb diet for a long time, you run the risk of creating health problems. If you DO put yourself on a low carbohydrate diet, make sure it’s only for a short period of time. Some of the health risks you face with long term low-carb dieting are truly frightening.

One of the problems with low carbohydrate diets is that they’re high in animal proteins. (Which is actually the whole point of the diet.) An unfortunate byproduct of digesting large amounts of animal protein is that they tend to build up acids in the blood. Our bodies have to neutralize these acids, and they take calcium from the bones to do so. This can lead to osteoporosis, which is inordinately dangerous for women.

Additionally, there is a higher risk of cancer with these types of diets over the long term. The American Institute for Cancer Research states that low carbohydrate diets that are low in whole grains, fruits and vegetables (all excellent metabolism foods) and at the same time high in animal proteins increase your risk of getting certain types of cancer.

Another unintended consequence of low-carb diets is that it increases the proportion of fats that we eat. Studies have shown that countries with high rates of fat consumption are directly correlated with higher rates of breast cancer. To help overcome the risk of breast cancer, be sure your diet includes a lot of high fiber metabolism foods.

It’s even more alarming to see that overly consuming saturated fat can increase the risk factors for raising so-called “bad” or LDL cholesterol, as well as increasing your risk of stroke and heart disease.

In order to lose weight, we need to include carbohydrates, proteins and fats in our diets in moderate and balanced amounts. Our bodies need all three of these building blocks of life, in the right proportions and of the right type. We can choose healthier options from each of these three categories – there are several high metabolism foods in each – but we do need all three building blocks.

Increasing your metabolic rate with high metabolism foods is the only sure path to losing weight and keeping it off. Plus, it’s healthy. Safely increasing your metabolism, is really quite simple and will never deprive you of food. In fact, if you ARE ever hungry, you’re doing it wrong.

Cider Vinegar – One Of The Secret Foods That Speed Up Metabolism

You don’t have to constantly work out – eat tons of potentially lethal diet pills or go on some extreme diet. There’s an easier way! Were you aware that there ARE foods that speed up metabolism and one of them is probably in your pantry right now? It will seem strange when you first hear it, but the magic to you losing weight could be…Cider Vinegar.

Never expected that one, right? I know I sure didn’t when I first heard of it. Tests and studies have tried to determine why it works, but so far…no one has been able to prove anything. It’s one of those things that has been around and working for so long, that people just do it for that reason alone.

There HAVE been some theories as to why cider vinegar works in weight loss. Many people believe – as I do – that it’s one of the foods that speed up metabolism. It helps speed up our bodies ability to digest food and turn it into energy.

Others have proposed that cider vinegar actually burns the calories in your body – thus helping you to lose weight.

Cleansing the liver is another popular idea. Your liver is an organ that can have a huge impact on your weight loss efforts.

According to a recent study, cider vinegar ingested just before a meal will make you feel fuller. Thereby eating less and losing weight. The study was a small one and more work has to be done, but the results are encouraging.

Has it stood the test of time? That’s a question we should all ask ourselves when looking into the latest foods that speed up metabolism. Is it just another fad that it probably already on the way out before we can even try it? Check this out…it’s about as far from a fad as you can get! Cider vinegar – used as a food supplement for weight loss – can be traced all the way back to the ancient Egyptians!

Including cider vinegar into your weight loss program is effortless and there are several options. The least expensive and easiest is to just add a little to a glass of juice or water and drink it with or before your meal.

Other options include buying one of the commercially available tablets or capsules that contain cider vinegar. You can find them online or in your local health food store. They frequently include other nutrients like vitamin B6 and lecithin. As one of the foods that speed up metabolism, the additional nutrients may have as much or more impact as the cider vinegar.

It’s not just a great weight loss product, it’s good for you too! It can help with medical problems and your general overall health. As a bonus, it includes several vitamins and minerals and it would be worth the effort to include this in your general diet…even if you don’t have any desire to lose weight.

In addition to being used as one of the foods that speed up metabolism, it’s been known to help with diabetes, arthritis pain, digestion and sore throats. it contains potassium which helps lower blood pressure and fiber which absorbs the cholesterol that causes heart problems.

True, cider vinegar is one of the foods that speed up metabolism but there are also some risks that you should be aware of and take into account. It’s very acidic which means that if you don’t dilute it, it could burn and damage your teeth, mouth and throat. Always dilute it in juice or water before using. Like with anything else, if you have any serious medical issues…see a doctor before you start using cider vinegar.

Diets For Quick Weight Loss – The 500 Calorie Diet Is Very Popular

June 24, 2009 by Dan Beckwith

Engaging in diets for quick weight loss can be very dangerous. But, if you don’t mind taking risks with your health, the 500 calorie diet might be right for you. Keep in mind, that even when considering diets for quick weight loss, the 500 calorie diet is a very extreme form of dieting. Even so, it tends to be extremely popular.

Clearly, the reason for this popularity is that you will quickly lose weight. Almost everyone who has a need for diets for quick weight loss, goes to a low-calorie diet. But even among low-calorie diets, the 500 calories per day diet is at the low end of the spectrum.

First, for a definition…For a diet to be considered low calorie, the arbitrary cutoff point is 1200 calories per day. Anything below that is considered to be a low-calorie diet. Clearly the whole idea of a low-calorie diet is to lose weight quickly, but again – it can be quite dangerous so it should always be thoroughly planned with a nutritionist or your family doctor.

It’s well known that the best way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat. You can do this by burning more, or by eating less. Your body needs a certain number of calories just to exist. If you’re not eating enough, the theory is that your energy needs will be taken from the fat calories in your body.

But, keep in mind that your body is very smart. It won’t simply keep burning away calories. Your body will think you are starving, and it will cut way back on the number of calories it uses to survive. This affects your metabolic rate, which means that your body will start eating away at your muscle mass.

For the long-term, this is very dangerous. It’s your muscles that burn calories (far more than fat) and if you lose muscle mass, it can have a highly detrimental effect on your body and on your ability to keep weight off in the future. As one of the diets for quick weight loss, it works…but only for a little while.

Your gender, activity level, height, body type, genetics, and overall health will determine how quickly and how badly your body is affected by a 500 calorie per day diet. For short while, 500 calories per day may be enough for some of us.

For most of us though, particularly if we are overweight, eating only 500 calories per day is literally starving yourself. Your body is most likely used to taking in 2000-5000 calories per day – or more – and suddenly dropping to 500 calories will move your body into starvation mode. To conserve energy, your metabolism slows way down.

You don’t want to do this for very long because your body will learn to live on 500 calories per day, right up until you run out of calories to burn, then you will slip into a coma and die.

The good news is, we usually stop our dieting before that happens. The bad news is, now that you’ve lost so much muscle mass and your metabolism is so slow, as soon as you go back to your old eating habits (and we all do) you will have a sudden spike in weight gain. In fact you’ll gain more weight than you would have if you had never gone on a diet to start with. Diets for quick weight loss may seem to be very effective, but they just don’t work over the long haul.

The best way to determine a safe, workable daily calorie level is by using a BMR/AMR calculator. This will tell you how many calories you need in order to maintain good health and support your lifestyle. Now, you know how many calories you need and if you subtract up to 500 calories per day you will have one of the ideal diets for quick weight loss.

Since the body size and mass of men and women is so obviously different, this means that they need a different number of calories to survive. While the average woman may eat 1200 to 1300 calories per day their male counterpart needs from 1500 to 1600 calories per day. That’s why it’s so important for you to consult your physician before starting any diet. Safety must come first.

In conclusion, cutting back to 500 calories per day is very popular in the realm of diets for quick weight loss, but it can be very dangerous. It will work to help you lose weight, but the total loss is short-lived at best. You should never restrict your calories that dramatically without the constant supervision and monitoring of a doctor.

How to Speed Up Metabolism – Lose Weight The Easy Way…

April 27, 2009 by Dan Beckwith

Learning how to speed up metabolism in your body is vital if you want to lose weight. If done correctly, weight loss is simple and automatic – there’s no need to feel hunger, frustration or defeat. Weight loss doesn’t have to be hard, if you simply take the time to understand what causes weight gain and what prevents weight loss and speeding up metabolism, your diet program will be a success – it has to be. It’s all science. Speeding up metabolism guarantees weight loss success.

The most simplistic answer to our weight difficulties is that all weight problems have to do with metabolism. If the metabolizing mechanisms in your body are not in optimal condition, then your weight loss program will be fighting against body chemistry. When that happens, your diet is doomed. But take heart, speeding up metabolism is relatively easy.

Most metabolic issues begin in the digestive tract. The fact is, due to our daily diets, people (especially those living in America) have digestive systems that function miserably. Most colons are impacted with a lifetime of stored fecal matter that is simply not ejected.

First, no serious weight loss program should begin without a thorough colon cleanse, with a QUALITY cleansing product. It’s a must for speeding up metabolism. You will be dismayed to discover what’s been hiding inside you – and it’s not pretty. It stops your body from getting the nutrients it needs from the food you eat and prevents proper metabolism.

Some of the reported effects of a thorough colon cleansing are: longer lasting and easier weight loss, reduced illness and increased energy. Reports of clearer skin are common too!

After your colon is in good shape, the next step is to take off some pounds.

Diets that promote a lot of really fast weight loss are not healthy, they aren’t effective for the long term and pose problems for most of us as soon as they’re over. i know that’s not what we like to hear, but it’s true. Fast weight loss diets slow down your metabolic rate which is why you regain it all as soon as you stop dieting. The path to success is by speeding up metabolism.

Forgetting about the health issues – most if not all the fast weight loss fads come at the expense of calories. We are expected to dramatically cut back on our caloric intake. So what? Starving a little is no big deal. Most of us could stand to miss a meal or two, but…

Your body doesn’t understand dieting. It doesn’t know it’s only a temporary condition. It just knows that something is wrong and you aren’t getting enough food!

Instead of operating at the same level of calories – finding the extras it needs by burning fat, your body will try to protect you by slowing down your metabolism. It will do everything it can to survive on the calories it’s being fed. As your metabolism slows, your energy levels will decrease. If you continue, it will eventually start shutting down other bodily functions which can – and has – lead to coma and death.

Before your diet, what was a normal daily intake of calories is now way too high! Your slowed metabolism is used to functioning on less and when your diet ends you have a bunch of extra calories. They have to be dealt with, so the body stores them as fat. You are going to gain back everything you lost and keep going. To avoid this problem, learning how to speed up metabolism in your body is important.

We constantly see ads and testimonials from people who say they’ve lost a lot of weight and kept it off. Look carefully. Somewhere in that ad is a disclaimer that says “these results are not typical”. Assuming they really lost the weight, (these multi-billion dollar companies wouldn’t LIE would they?) the ads don’t show what else they did in addition to the diet. Typically there was a major lifestyle change that included eating healthier foods, exercise, routine colon cleansing and sometimes medication.

So, in learning how to speed up metabolism in your body, two areas where you can begin are: first, do a colon cleanse and second don’t cut way back on food.

Speeding up metabolism can be as basic as eating MORE! Instead of two or three big meals, eat five or six little ones spread out through the day. This speeds up metabolism by keeping it working all the time. Your body, being helpful and efficient will burn off the extra calories faster – in the form of increased energy.

These two tips are a terrific start in your quest to learn how to speed up metabolism.

You should be contacting a doctor before you start any diet or exercise program. While you’re there, have the doctor test your thyroid and get rid of any nagging doubts that you could have a medical condition preventing you from losing weight.

Monday, tomorrow, after the holidays – is TOO LATE! Start right now! Do something. Take a walk, eat more veggies , stop snacking late at night…Everything adds up and soon you will barely remember your weight issues.
