Has this ever happened to you? It’s late at night and you can’t sleep, simply because you are hungry and nothing can change that. You’ve done everything in your power you know how to avoid a late night snack run or raiding the fridge.
Let’s see, you have brushed your teeth, because studies have shown that a reason we get hungry late at night is because we don’t brush our teeth immediately after eating our dinner. This in turn leaves food on your tongue triggering your tastebuds to tell your brain that you are hungry. That didn’t work. So then you drank a nice, tall glass of water, nope, still hungry.
So what do you do, make a late night McDonald’s or Taco Bell run. Possibly grab that bag of Doritos out of the pantry. Yeah we all have done it, anything to satisfy that hunger bug. Because if you don’t you won’t be able to get a good nite’s rest.
So this in turn may or may not leave you a little bummed because you just went off course of your diet. It gets your brain to thinking, what are the best snack for dieters? I mean there has to be another option besides eating unhealthy, eating salad or not eating at all(NOT GOOD!)right?
Are there options besides salad, absolutely! You don’t have to and you are not suppose to starve yourself when dieting. You are actually suppose to eat more, believe it or not. Dieting the right way will get you your best body and keep you out of restaurants at midnight.
Below, I’ve given three of the best snacks to eat while dieting.
1. Vegetables, fruit – I’m sure you thought of this as an alternative to salad. They are great, don’t have to eat them bland. You can add a little flavor for different options. Add some salt and pepper to carrots and bake them. Make your own fruit salad. Be creative.
2. Almonds & Other Nuts – I listed almonds first because they are the best. Get them natural and uncoated (no salt, or smoked). You can spruce ‘em up or eat them with yogurt, fruit or whatever you want. They are great by themselves. Eat a handful, and you will be surprised how fast they will fill you up.
3. Smoothies – This is number 1 on my list. The great thing about them is that they are so versatile. There are tons of varieties you can make, and you can have them as a snack, or as a meal. The important thing is that they fill you up, and you get all of your essential nutrients in them. Oh and they taste great!
