Making Your Own Mineral Makeup

Even though mineral makeup is very good for your skin, it can get expensive to buy it commercially. Fortunately, it’s something you can make yourself. You don’t need a background in chemistry to do so, either. How do you make your own mineral makeup? That’s a question a lot of people are asking, and a lot of people are posting this sort of information on the Internet these days. And of course, people want to know how they, too, can get in on this money-saving activity.

If you’re trying to save money, making your own cosmetics can certainly help you out in the expense department, but it’s also a good idea to make your own if you can because it can actually mean your skin will be healthier. Oftentimes, makeup you’ve made yourself can work better on your skin than so-called “brand name” mineral makeup formulations will. Some of these brands have ingredients in them that can irritate your skin. However, if you’re making your own mineral makeup, you can be sure that the ingredients you’ll use will be healthy.

It may sound difficult, but really, it’s not difficult to make your own mineral makeup. You need to find the right ingredients based upon what you need and on your own personal taste; then mix the ingredients together so that you get the perfect consistency. There are lots of homemade mineral makeup recipes available on the Internet, and you can make just about anything you want. You can make eye shadow, foundation, and blush — all from ingredients you put together yourself.

How do you make your own perfect mix of mineral makeup? First, the basics. Learn to handle the ingredients in the right way, and what you come out with should be just right for you. Every mineral makeup recipe has what are called oxides, which are going to control what color your makeup is going to be. You need to add the oxides slowly, so that you get the perfect blend; just a little too much or ever so slightly “not enough” of something can throw you off of your perfect blend.

In addition, if you want to use some scent for your makeup, you can use some fragrance oils or essential oils in your makeup, too. Before you do this, though, make sure the scent is not going to cause irritation to your skin. If you need to, talk with your dermatologist and see if he or she can give you suggestions as to what type of fragrance or essential oil you can use in your makeup.

Once you’ve got your particular “makeup methodology” down, you’ll need to know how to repeat it so that you can make a perfect batch of mineral makeup again the next time. This involves having to find the perfect mix of ingredients so that your skin is not irritated and is kept healthy by the makeup. Keep a “recipe” of the ingredients used and the amounts of each. Then, you can follow this recipe exactly in the future, every time you want to make up a new batch of makeup.

Learning how to make mineral makeup is definitely useful for anyone that has sensitive skin. The all natural homemade recipe of your mineral makeup will not harm your skin. Several ingredients are very beneficial to the skin. You will have the piece of mind knowing exacting what ingredients were used in your makeup.
