If you have rosacea it is important to know what types of things can cause a rosacea flare up. Basically, it has been proven that anything that increases the blood flow to the face will cause rosacea symptoms. You probably are thinking about things such as medications and strenuous activities. However, you also need to be aware that certain foods will produce redness that is linked to the skin condition. If you want to decrease the appearance of rosacea you need to learn to follow a rosacea diet.

There are specific triggers that can produce rosacea symptoms. These triggers are different for each individual. One person may be able to eat chocolate while another must avoid it. If you are not sure what your rosacea triggers are then you need to keep a journal. Write down everything you eat. This will allow you to pinpoint the foods that trigger rosacea.

Hot or spicy foods are common causes of rosacea symptoms. Even a hot or cold drink can cause symptoms. Some rosacea sufferers cannot tolerate tomatoes, lobster or citrus fruits. After you get diagnosed with rosacea you will be able to determine which foods trigger your rosacea, and you can do your best to avoid them. A lot of people follow a specific rosacea diet to keep the symptoms under control.

The secret to keeping your rosacea under control is to reduce the amount of food consumed in a sitting. It is much better to eat several small meals throughout the day than three huge meals. The reasoning behind this is small meals do not require as much energy to digest. Therefore, there is less vascular dilation flushing. Foods to include on your rosacea diet should include whole grains, seeds, nuts and fresh fruits and vegetables. You should stay away from red meats and eat lean cuts of chicken and fish.

When you are developing your rosacea diet you should do your best to include blackberries, blueberries and cherries. These special fruits are natural vascular constrictors, and they can actually prevent the symptoms of rosacea.
