Acne is a blight upon the teenage race. Teens and adults alike wage an almost constant warfare on the condition, which causes blackheads, puss-filled inflammation on the skin of the face, back, scalp, and just about anywhere else that is likely to get dirty and/or oily.
Taking care of your skin properly is an essential part of treating acne, but dirty skin isn’t the only reason for of the plague, as genetics plays a huge role in why many people end up with it. Because of this acne can strike anybody at any time anywhere for any reason. Despite the efforts of Hollywood to get rid of them and hide them, even movie stars with what appears to be perfect skin are oftentimes afflicted. Fortunately there are alternatives to spending a fortune on acne treatments. With some simple home remedies for acne, you can keep your face looking smooth, clear, and radiant for years to come.
One simple way to help shrink and eliminate pimples is to apply a raw papaya juice.By applying the whole fruit your skin including the pulp and seeds, you get the full effects and benefits that are contained in it.Apply the juice evenly and leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then wash it off with warm water. This will help to exfoliate your skin and give it a good conditioning, as well as helping to clear up any blemishes that might be present.
Another truly powerful remedy for acne, if you can get your hands on it, is sandalwood powder. You need to either mix it up into a paste with lime juice or milk that has a high fat content. Apply the paste and let it sit for a while, then wash it off. The Sandalwood is going to help soak up any of the extra oils that are on your skin and the milk will work to moisturize. All that Sandalwood is really is just really dry crushed sawdust which works really well to remove and soak up oil.
Believe it or not drinking water is another really good remedy for acne although it is kind of slow to work. When you don’t intake enough water, and your body will start taking water from nonessential or less important areas and divert it to areas that are critical for survival. Your heart and lungs and stomach play a much higher role in your survival, so when the water levels become little in these organs your body will replenish that water supply from your skin. Drinking a lot of water can help you to avoid this completely.
Medicinal remedies are fine, and they work, but at what cost? There are some medicinal treatments that even have a petroleum based to them, or they will use solvents to help clear your skin up. Only the nice, high priced ones are actually good for your skin, but the cost can be prohibitive for most people. If you want to get rid of your acne naturally and responsibly, as well as inexpensively home remedies for acne are the way to go.
Can Tea Tree Oil Help Acne Sufferers?

The Melaleuca Alternifolia plant produces a chemical called terpinen-4-ol which is the main ingredient that gives tea tree oil it’s antimicrobial benefits. It has been used for thousands of year as an antiseptic.Leaves and twigs of the paper-bark tree are steamed in large stills to produce the essential oil. It is used in many products for skin care and acne problems. Many reviews on the Internet recommend this oil for mild to moderate acne.
Acne is a condition that can not be cured, but there are many treatments that can effectively control the problem. Tea tree oil has been shown to reduce acne by it’s ability to kill P.acnes. Propionibacterium acnes is a common bacteria that lives on the skin. Hair follicles gets plugged up, often be over production of sebum by the sebaceous gland. When this happens, P.acnes can start an infection within the hair follicle and immune response triggers more inflammation.
If you use a product that contains alpha hydroxy lotion, it might help stop dead skin cells from plugging follicles openings. This could be applied in the mornings and a tea tree oil product could be used in the evenings just before bedtime. This tactic attempts to treat two of the main factors attributed to acne.
Not every product that contains tea tree oil smell bad but one thing is for sure, it is very distinct. It reminds me of camphor or turpentine. If you use this product at night it is a good idea to change your pillow case everyday. Besides, the reside that builds up probably is not going to help your acne condition.
Pure tea tree oil is very potent stuff. It should not be applied full strength for keeping acne under control. It can cause severe skin irritation if used improperly.I use a small disposable 3 oz paper cup of water to add one teaspoon of pure tea tree oil. This gives it a diluted strength of amount 5%.I use this as my daily acne wash. The problem you can run into is using it too much. If your acne is under control don’t use it everyday. The P.acne can become resistant to treatment and that makes it very difficult to treat.
Some people can have allergic reactions to some of these products. Safety should be your first concern. Keep this stuff away from pets and children. It is toxic if swallowed! If your using any OTC product including tea tree oil for acne, and it is not helping, the best thing you can do is see a dermatologist as soon as possible. Don’t keep trying every new product that comes along. Chronic acne left untreated properly, can lead to scarring and sometimes even affect a person mental state. There are different kinds of acne and they require different types of treatment.Using the wrong product or using it improperly can make acne worse. In fact, I would not recommend using any topical treatment (including tea tree oil) before consulting a certified dermatologist.
