Most women have mineral makeup in their purses. But, do they know how to use it? Maybe only one of every five women correctly applies mineral makeup on her face. So, if you are among this number who are having a bit of difficulty, well show you how to apply mineral makeup perfectly. You’ll be a pro in no time!

The Secret to Successful Mineral Makeup Application

This is the missing step in most mineral makeup application tutorials: how to get your skin ready for the foundation. In order to achieve the most natural appearance you will need to cleanse and moisturize your skin.

You shouldn’t even think about putting the powder on your skin until you’ve cleansed it completely with a high-quality, oil-removing cleanser. You should also exfoliate with an exfoliating pad. Or simply scrub your face gently with a washcloth.

You’ll want to moisturize with a small bead of your favorite moisturizer. Rub it evenly all over your face and be sure that it is completely soaked up before continuing. Finish off by concealing and blemishes. Use a concealer that matches your shade as closely as possible and lightly touch and blend and areas you want to hide.

The Technique in Applying Mineral Makeup

If you’re done with the preparation steps listed above, you can start opening your favorite jar of mineral makeup foundation and let the lid stay upside-down. Then, pour in a small amount of mineral makeup on your lid and dab your brush into the powdered foundation.

You’ll need to remove the excess foundation from your brush. This can be done by spinning the brush in the dish. Check the tone of the foundation by dabbing a small amount around your jaw line. Once you have the right shade, you should begin applying across the rest of your face, always working from the ouside in. Blending should be your main focus here in order to achieve the natural mineral makeup look. Moderation is key since “less is more” with mineral makeup.

Eye shadow and blush are applied last as with traditional makeups. Again, be sure to use the right shade for your cheeks and eyes. Highlight your cheekbones with the blush-on. The eye shadow needs to be brushed on from the outside in as well.

A quick Google search will turn up a vast library of free tutorials you can learn from while coming up with your favorite application strategy. Whichever you choose, just remember to properly prepare your skin and you’ll love the results every time!
